About The Author

Dr. Martin Reddy is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the AAIA, and an ACM Distinguished Engineer. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh and has over 30 years of experience in the software industry. He has published over 40 professional articles, 10 patents, and 2 books. He was also honored as Alumnus of the Year by his alma mater, the University of Strathclyde.

Martin was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) company PullString, where he oversaw the development of the company's technology until it was acquired by Apple in 2019. At Apple, Martin was a software architect within the AI/ML division and was responsible for the architecture and APIs of major components of the Siri virtual assistant, software that runs on over 1 billion devices worldwide.

Before that, Dr. Reddy worked for 6 years at Pixar Animation Studios where he was a lead software engineer working on APIs and tooling for the studio's in-house animation system, Presto. While at Pixar, Martin worked on several Academy Award Winning and Nominated films, including “Finding Nemo”, “The Incredibles”, “Cars”, “Ratatouille”, and “Wall-E.” He was also the hair model for Mr. Incredible.

Martin began his career at SRI International where he worked on a distributed 3D terrain visualization system called TerraVision and co-authored the geospatial features of the VRML and X3D ISO international standards. He was elected as a director of the Web3D Consortium for two consecutive years. His PhD was in the area of perceptually-modulated level of detail (LOD) for real-time 3D graphics and Virtual Reality (VR) systems.
